Mid 2008, after a thorough renovation of the yard directly situated next to the port of Ridderkerk, we started with the handling and transport of seacontainers by barges on water. Groenenboom Container-transferium Ridderkerk (GCR) has specifically been set up to cater the increasing congestion of the A15 motorway and the containerterminals on the Maasvlakte. Meanwhile we are handling, on a daily basis approximately 60 containers per barge. Departures of the barges ar on a daily basis to Rotterdam vice versa, and Antwerp vice versa twice a week. GCR has a Licence Custom Entrepot C, and has been AEO certified by the custom’s authorities. Moreover GCR is, as one the few inlandterminals, ISPS certified, which means that we may also handle (small) seagoing vessel. In addition to the transhipment of standardsize containers, GCR handles flatracks with high/low cargo, as well as the seaworthy stowing of flatrack cargo. For further information we refer you to our link www.inlandlinks.eu – find a terminal – Ridderkerk. At the official opening of the GCR terminal I October 2009, one year after commisioning, we were proud to announce the magic number of 10,000 containers through our terminal had already been surpassed, which in times of economic crisis can be looked upon as a formidable achievement. In this way, we contribute to reduction of traffic congestion on the A15 motorway, as wel as reduced CO2 emission and finer particles.Groenenboom Containertransferium Ridderkerk
